EAT PRAY &' LOVE book ( pages 223-333 )

Summary:

She spent four months in Italy, eating and enjoying life. That's where the begining of the title "Eat" comes from. She later spent four months in India, finding her spirituality and what she wamted to do in a religious manner which was the "Pray" part. And she ended the year in Bali, Indonesia, looking for some type of balance of the two , eat and pray and ended up finding love in the form of a dashing Brazilian factory owner.
Quote:

" A few months after I'd left Indonesia, I returned to visit loved ones, and to celebrate the Christmas and New Year Holiday. "

- It shows her new understanding of her trip, and how it really had transformed her.

Reaction:
My reaction is that she deserves the best because she has worked hard enough to give up her time and try to make herself happy before she tried to make others. It was all in a way to save the grief from those men who made her feel the way she did.

EAT PRAY &' LOVE book ( pages 112-222 )

Summary:

This reading after all that she was writing an article on yoga vacations in Bali. She met a medicine man who told her she would come back and study medicine with him. She finally finalized her divorce ans started traveling around the world. She said that she was only going for a year just to figure out who she was and to experience new thing. Lucky for her the trip was paid for in by a book deal from the publisher that she was writing the book for. She spent some time in italy and learned the language, making new friends and learning new things to make her realize who she was.

Quote:
  " . . . .too willed, too self-conscious . . . . "

-she described her journey as too fake, and that it didnt really benefit her .

Reaction:

My reaction to this weeks reading was that she did it for the better, but she was still being selfish in a self-conscious way. She finally got to figure out who she was, and why she couldn't keep the men she loved in her life. She did eventually link him and he doesn't feel to be with her or care much that she is really gone, and it hurts her deeply inside.

EAT PRAY &' LOVE book ( pages 1-111 )

Summary:

Elizabeth Gilbert was 32 and educated, she had a home, a husband, and a successful career as a writer. Suddenly she became unhappy with her marriage. As a way to show her pain she would often spent the night crying on her bathroom floor or looking in her box with places that she dreams to visit. She eventually gave up and had a divorce to make her life more liveable,he wasn't to happy with the divorce and was against it willing to try and change or make it better. She found herself a rebound which she was with for some time. They did not work out which left her devastated, alone and ready to give up.

Quote:

" How could I turn back now, though? Everything was in place. This was supposed to be the year. In fact, we'd been trying to get pregnant for a few months already........"

- This quote kind of explains her reason for doubting the marriage and wanting to give up, cause she thought it was going to be a happy thing, but other things came along.

Reaction:

My reaction is that she is crazy and that it looked more like she was just being selfish the whole time. Her husband wasn't making her happy anymore, but she was not willing to try and fix it or go to counseling. I guess she thought that going into another relationship would make her feel better and change the fact that she had felt the way she did, when realistically she was just making things worst for herself not knowing the impact it would have on her.
